so i love holidays but i'm not always able to convince myself to go to the big socal things for it (ever seen that scene in tangled where she's deciding wheher to leave the tower? ya me over the ward social) so i decided to have a few girls over for a little christmas girls night in dinner and cookie decorating extravaganza

teen and i went to brunch (so much fancier) in downtown san juan at the ramos house

chicken scrambled eggs with warm apple sauce and homemade waffles

some yummy unidentified cheese and fruit with almonds and brisquets that could kill

i can't remember what teen got but it was soemthing with the word flannel in it and eggs with runny yolks

the restaraunt is outdoor seating only and is attached to someones actual house just on the other side of the traintracks down town

they have water that to me tastes like cooking flour...sounds weird but it is so good and teen said i may be right on the taste...i drink it by the pitcher...they said it's from the cucumbers they soak in it but i feel ike there's more to it

the tiniest coziest boutique that just got bought by some lame company that we will own and run one day...cutest coziest cottage w a side yard...what dreams may come

after painting white on my face i immediately put bronzer...

i will not be cute dead or come one month since i barely got tan this summer

i'm behind the camera all night so i feel 89 percent justified in taking a mirror picture of myself and posting it on the world wide web to prove i was involved (11% still feels it may be weird of me to do)

they had a butterfly "rescue" center where you dip your "feeder" in "nectar"...
and if you ask if you could take home the garbage can of dead butterflies that were "rescued" at the end they will look at you like you're a "freak" so that you get too embarassed to take them but then regret it for ever after...i've "heard"

dont get me wrong i am so grateful to technology and the connectedness i maintain as well as visual inspiration that the internet has opened to me...but lately when i want to do something creative i go "find an idea" to craft or draw..and something in my hearts satisfaction goes missing...not that it's a bad thing i really want to emphasize it is so great to be able to draw from so much instead of that blank 'now what' feeling so many projects create when you sit down to do them ....but i am just itching to take a hands on art or jewelry or ceramics or film photo class ..and it is an itch this world wide web just can't scratch

i was a total bug girl when i was young-er...im still a total bug girl...my biggest obsession was probably rolly poleys and snails...but maybe they are just the easiest to find...i spent hours upon hours finding and saving (killing) them in homemade hospitals i collected cool dead ones (some things dont ever change) and when i was pinning my heart away i saw this...its everything i never knew i always wanted...and i wanna make some of my own...it is kind of like having that childhood box of treasure around your neck...sold...now if someone could tell me where to find it!

also i know its kinda sad they are dead but i just like to think they found them dead of natural causes first

we got serious about gardening this year built new planter boxes made all our own dirt compost combo...(that was fun)...its been so cool to watch it thrive and its so relaxing to be in the garden...and makes me want to watch the seceret garden and talk about things being wick, buy big straw hats, and wear cloth aprons from the waist down ...the best part though is getting it out of your own yard right onto your own table...i love dirt

so it was my dad's bday this past week and we decided to do a harry potter dinner for him (for the kids?) everyone dressed up (i knew the long sleeve long black craft like jersey dress was a smart purchase) my brother showed up in a weird thermal outfit, glasses and a wand and insisted he was a dead harry potter... we made an extensive home made butterbeer recipe and all my garage sale finds turned out to look surprisingly hogwartian all placed on a table...oh and of course my brother brought his fog machine...still not sure how he came to own one...and it was complete with floating candles the idea of which i got from mary and may have started the whole thing

scientific facts about my new career as a a pro mountain biker:

• learning to switch to an easier gear shouldn't have taken me until the way back...i had alot on my mind...like mostly yelling about how scary it was and that i didnt like it(only the first bit well the not liking it part)

• neither should locking a leg and not putting all my weight on my tailfeather no matter much junk is protecting my trunk

• said tailfeather is already displaying its' displeasure with bluish purple bruises...just take my word for it

• darci and julie are the only people i will learn things with that scare me ...its a comfort/trust thing ....and im not exagerating i hate learning new things in areas i know im self concious about from people i know or infront of people...not that i dont learn from people...anyways

• when darci was teaching me about the biking 101 lowdowns in the parking lot we knew we were in trouble when i couldnt make it five feet over the pebbles in the parking lot...

• needless to say she wins most patient mountain biker award..she was such a good sport...and i think riding behind her fearless self kept me going cuz i just kept thinking she looked cool ya know..the girls i get most jealous of are the ones who can do all those cool things you know? like they go surf and ride with the boys....oh coordination you are so attractive..and elusive

• i win most improved award ...i went from being the worst mountain biker in the world to maybe not the worst...i am basing this scale on the assumption some other 26 year old girl has never ridden a bike and i'm probably way better then her....

• i didn't get one cool battle wound despite falling into a bush ...and darci wouldnt scratch my face with a branch

• i loved it...it terrified me...but i loved it ...but it terrified me but also i loved it

and i can now add this to the list of things i think im good at cuz i've kinda done it or watched a movie about it or watched other people do it (ex. basketbal,(michael jordan videos)l softball,(league of thier own)...mountainbiker extrodinaire...

it's a blogging miracle...remember how i said i wanted a typewriter... well a saint of a friend saw that i wanted one and gave me one!! i love it! the minute i started typing i was right back to when i was little and i would pull out our old typewriter and draft up real important documents for the neighborhood kids...i'm super excited...i just need to get some new ink and then i am set...also isn't it weird that they don't have the number 1 button on them? and yet they had room for a 1/2 and 1/4 button...

you can turn it if you want but its intended sideways like the top one..this is one of the few times i prefer the original over a photo of it...i think it is a little softer in real life then in photos..the white stamps are stamped mushrooms from the backyard...and yup still not over ripping paper apparently

oh and its a drawing from one of miss maile's self portrait photos (the photo was originally more upside down just to be noted)... she is as pretty as she is talented...and if you are a hair fan you will wanna stalk her

so lucky for us my parents still have their wheat grinder from (pre) 1975...and tonite we were talking about what herbs we would grow this summer and looking at this book...and feeling all farmy

so we decided to get it out and make some and turn this...

so i saw these (sorry couldn't find the closer pic)and thought maybe taco would like some...sometimes i wish his natural habitat wasn't desert...then i could fern gully his living space all up

so apparently after 20 years of making junk out of fimo and sculpey i forgot to set the oven temp at 275 and set it at 375...and burnt them crisp brown...but then after i painted them i liked it even better...it made the bottom cooler

so i have had a bit of a girl crush on this cute girl for awhile and i think she's so funny and lispy and i like a girl who can hold her own in the comedy world which i feel she will

and normally i side with brunettes...and just realized almost all my girl crushes are brunettes (giselle is not a crush she's a lifetime love)

she looks so cute with it and i am totally tempted by it and want to be so blonde now

last night had my reoccurring nightmare that taco was sick and fell out of his shell and i couldn't get him back in...and he and i are both crying ( did you know tortoises make noise...i didn't until i had one)

and today i was all sorts of grumpy and my shift at work got cut

so i wandered o a few of my favorite hidden and quiet spots in our backyard and snapped shots of them

i feel much less grumpy....oh and taco is still in his shell

also a lot of times i feel like i need to travel and go cool places for a pretty things to shoot..and lets be honest it doesn't hurt..but it's nice to remember that you can find pretty anywhere if you're looking

so i have this dream of owning a green house slash bathroom...well a green house with a perfect claw foot vintage tub (con running agua caliente por favor) i just have this obsession with green houses...smellwise, humidity visually...when i was in chicago they have a free zoo..it's the best...beautiful open park grounds, foodstands, cute rescued gimpy animals and then i found the botanical garden (green house whats the diff?) also i'd like to tell you this particular garden also has a plant in a glass case with chains around it...

the other night teen came over and while we watched perfect couples (i think it's so funny!) we started making handmade stamps...at first i hated it cuz it felt sloppy...but now i love how imperfect they turn out...and they just look different then store bought ones...now i'm on a stamp warpath using vegetabless and mushrooms and all sorts of weird things...i also painted some of taco's rocks he's into it i can tell...they aren't stamped but there is something really fun about painting nature made things over store bought stuff

that is really the only concern i have about ordering these for myself...heres the thing...i am big on smells
top five ....in no particualr order except the first one

comet...if i didn't know from world wide web authority it would burn my insides from top to bottom i would eat it...i crave it...like throat chalking mouth watering right now just thinking of it...but for the record abhor the lemon fresh kind
rain or pool water on pavement...preferably very parched pavement...i also love it on asphalt and hay driving through idaho during a flash storm
the wet room in a pottery room...or the whole pottery room
vanilla(raw), violet, roses,rose water, patchouli...(but the good high quality patchouli oil...no incense crap...it kinda smells like raindirt...that's a word) im not gonna keep going but i could (grapefruit, sandal wood, vetiver, lavendar)
dirt and chalkboards...i know im doomed as a pregnant lady

so any ways this is going somehwere (atleast more then my friday night apparently is) i saw these soaps and i feel like i have to have them...as in neeeed them ....
they are so clayish...in my head it will be like washing in a shower of clays and soil and i cant think of anything better (except the body scrub maile just made me but that deserves it's own post)...
i think i will buy it for myself for valentines...i deserve it...i even want to eat these pictures...i have a thing for anything crumbled...this post is leading me to believe i have an iron defficiency

i spent new years in some crazy nice beach house holed up with jaymi watching movies eating treats and crocheting...listening to the ocean and a little bit of gossip before new years hit...can't drag that into 2011....taco helped me write my goals this year

we came home from holiday shopping( the kind where you are hiding in isles from a boy that you do not want to run into...and if you have to run into not here looking tlike this ya know?...unless he saw us then we deny it and were too busy to notice a mere ten almost run ins) and it was festive and funny
it was raining the perfect amount
christmas lights in my neighborhood deserve their own post
it needs to be said that my brother in law was here...and he is a master chef...so meals between him and lori are basically the reason behind my last ten pounds

so that ground being layed....we enter the house to gourmet hot chocolate and handmade williams sonoma marshmallows...homemade caramel sauce...chocolate shavings, cayenne pepper... and the best cookies that teen still refers to as remember that cookie?

we were served this and had cozy chat (joys of being the youngest)

then we commenced to blankets and a fire and watching father of the bride two while the rain pitter pattered outhside the huge window tight next to us...ok so there wan't a fire but there could have been and it sounded good

we only made it to openning credits and when we saw the eggs baing fried in a pan realized all we needed in life was an egg treat

so my brother in law of all time made us the best "vacation omelette" egg treats we have ever had...they have to be called that because nothing is better then food on vacation and these were that good

we were then able to enjoy the classic movie... i think they are both so funny and fall asleep to thunder and wake up sunday to a perfect cozy drizzle sabbath

** so maybe it's weird that this is like the longest post i have ever written and it's about pretty much nothing....but i know all of my close friends can seee why this is the best night....and if you dont get it....you probably never will...harsh maybe....but true friends know cozy

so obviously since i still haven't posted thanksgiving my bday or christmas or new years it would only make sense to sart with valentines day....i had an awful flu lat week and was layed up in bed and since christmas is over i needed a craft theme... i liked the first image i saw when i typed in vintage valentine in good ol google...cut me some slack my brain was zapped from fevers and vomit originality was not an option ...also i redrew it on brown paper thinking it'd look good w no background it didn't...and of course what's a valentines w out felt...im not sure this is my official valentine...but it's cute...and it was fun to use colored pencils

so lately by night i am a celine dion christmas album listening treat eating christmas crafter...and i feel real good about it...

most of these ideas i ripped from other blogs...and i found these cute print on tags to go w the clay ornaments me and teen stamped...to whom i owe thanks from saving me from turning country while crafting alone

i may have gotten a little excited about my nephews coming and made a little festivity for there room...i loved the birds with the letters it made it more boyish

also when not crafting i have become obsessed with organizing ...and i think egg cartons for earrings is my new favorite....i love the texture they have...and they are free with only a dozen eggs

also i would like to post links to where i ripped ideas from and got the printable ornaments...but i can't be logged into google reader and my blog at the same time...so plese dont sure me for not referencing...just teach me how to fix that problem instead? thanks

i thought these were very appropriate alomost bday pictures...apparently my brother and i had no shame of stealing other peoples bday wishes...and it got kinda cut off but his cheeks were definately puffed in the first one also

so i got a cork baord in jr high....and now instead of being covered in collages its covered in necklaces...cuz im kinda a jewelry freak and hate tangled jewelry

but then i got over it so i sprayed the cork with wall texture (orange peel)

and then i made some wood push pins...as in i sawed off branches in the trail behind my house and lori came home to a mad woman in sweats and crazy hair running around with a saw (if u know me well you know exactly what this looked like...)

then i superglued myself to myself...

luckily my sister and brother in law were on the phone and googled me loose...i had glued fingers together before and didn't really think it worked...im a believer now

and voila...end product... i think it makes the wall look so much cleaner...and i like that it looks like wall too

also sara updated this blog for me so i could do larger pictures unfortunately i am and 80 year old when it comes to computer skills and lost half the pics i wanted and can't move a thing around...sorry

do you ever get anxiety and feel like you can't post anything for like half a month? ya me neither...but here's some of halloweens highlights:

face painting...the boys stuck with the same ones i posted earlier

spooky fog machine

and handing out candy to the trickers and treaters

dinner place settings

the boys made ghosts we hung all over the room ceilings...and a black and orange balloon mass but i forgot to photo it

lots of pumpkin patch visits...they are like mini fairs and i love them...and it makes me miss living in a small town

me and teen partied it up...or just got ready and took pics and made some drop ins to validate the get ups...and if you can guess what we are you are officially smarter than anyone in Huntington beach

and since michael is doing the candy deal (they get 100 dollars for one year of no candy) we had to find a new way of overloading on sugar and treats this year...all homemade sweet goodness...which means i think it's practically health food...i mean a homemade donut has to be healthier then store bought right??

whats spookier then homemade antelope jerky? not sure but it's pretty tasty

the force is real because you can use it to make your line in disneyland go faster then the one next to you
i'mgoing to be a really cool mom (albeit this was told during a trip to yogurtland on the way home from the dentist)
it's actually really cool that i get to live with grandma and grandpa and have access to all the best toys all the time (word)
a day can be the best day ever when you see a truck pull out of the gas station with the pump still attached in the car and drive off with it then come return it...simple pleasures

all day long at work people tell me to do whatever i think with their makeup...
it's a lie...they know exactly how they want their makeup to look...
so teen being the teendream she is, let me take my stress out on her face (not quite as de-stressing as taking it out on a boys face...but much more productive...just joshing mom) she didn't even bat an eye when she saw me dipping black for lips, red and purple for eyes or mixing bronze shimmers with lotions and applying liberally to the whole face...or even question smudging her mascara under her eyes in utter wrecklessness..k maybe she questioned that one...

the funny thing is its such crummy lighting you cant really tell what the makeup looks like...but she's so pretty and her hair color is new and all...im just putting pretty things out into the world...you're welcome world

this is real behind but awhile ago beckie was kind enough to take me on a weekend getaway....we went to palm springs and stayed at the ace hotel....i am obsessed with it...and still kicking myself for not bringing a good camera

it's decorated kinda like a guy version of anthro meets swim club/summer camp in the seventies...

and all the food is healthy yummy organic (and for beckie free range) goodness...which is important since my vacations (life) revolve around food pretty much

and they serve all the water in these and for some reason i was obsessed with it and plan on doing it in my own house...i practically overdosed on water just so i could refill my glass

and you get the worlds coziest robes (don't even start me on the bed...we were like stripping it of sheets to find out what kind it was...literally) i wore mine the minute we walked in the door and slept in it...for some reason beckies was a normal robe normal but mine was a hobbit one

and being as i love anything 80 year olds love we had to go to bingo night

so it was only fitting that we snuck away for a minute to check out the portland nike town while in the home state of the nike campus
